Where the Bomb Trains End

About

A small town in Ohio experienced a horrific disaster when a highly explosive train derailed there. This student-made documentary explores disabled resilience through the lens of the East Palestine Train Derailment and petrochemical disasters. What do disabled people do when disaster strikes?

Where the Bomb Trains End
is a new student-made documentary about the intersection of petrochemical disaster and disability justice. It was funded by the Aberg Family Fellowship through the Science, Technology, and Society Department at the Rochester Institute of Technology. The project took about 100 hours and cost $2,970.79. Dr. Kaitlin Stack Whitney advised this project.

Julia Resciniti (she/ her) made this film as the Aberg Family Fellow for the 25-26 academic year. She was a graduating junior at the Rochester Institute of Technology, persuing a BS in History with a concentration in Deaf & Disability History and a minor in Enviornmental Studies. She will graduate law school at Syracuse University in 2029.

Julia was diagnosed with sensorinueral hearing loss shortly after her 3rd birthday. She was diagnosed with and recieved treatments for an anuersymal bone cyst her freshman and junior year, prompting an interest in how chonic illness intersects with issues of enviornmetal justice.
